About Lina Bausch

Lina knew when she was 6 that she was going to be an artist. She grew up in an extremely artistic and creative family, her father Hans Mitt being a prominent Sydney architect and her mother Lea being an artist and Interior Designer. Her brother Hans is also  an architect,based in New Zealand. Both her parents were from Estonia.Her Grandfather on  her mother's side was Swedish, and on her father's German. 

Rather than be an architect , although she loves drawing houses and has worked for L J Hooker drawing properties for the Sydney papers , Lina is now an award-winning artist concentrating on the beautiful wildlife and scenery that surrounds her.

Education:

1969  Attended Hornsby Girls High School, Sydney. Dux of every subject in Year 7. A grade student until leaving to study Art in Year 11. Lina was awarded  a  prestigious Commonwealth Scholarship to further her studies,but still wished to study Art. Accepted into Hornsby Technical College in 1974 After working for the rest of the year at Hanna Barbera Cartoon Studio painting cartoon cells, Lina commenced the Art Diploma Qualifying Course at college in 1975 Completed stage 1.

Exhibitions:

1975: Sold first painting, a Cubist one, at "Gosford Festival of Waters Exhibition", Gosford, NSW.
1976: "Gosford Festival of Waters Exhibition "
1983: "Anthony Field Gallery",Paddington, and "The Verandah Restaurant", Kellet Street, Kings Cross, Sydney.
1987-1989: "Casey Gallery", Paddington, Sydney; "Kunama Gallery", Jindabyne and the "Rotary Easter Art Exhibition", Jindabyne, NSW. Received numerous commissions and sold paintings to private buyers.
1988: Booked in to do solo show at "The Casey Gallery", Paddington, but had to cancel exhibition because of being struck down by a car in Sydney's CBD on October 10, 1988. It took several months to recover from this accident, which fortunately caused only a broken arm and a dislocated knee.
1989: Continued painting part-time and sold numerous paintings to private buyers in Thredbo, Jindabyne and America.
1993: "Sydney Royal Easter Show". Sold  wildlife painting "The Feathered Friend".
1994: Exhibited works with Ansett Airlines in their "Golden Wing Lounges".
1995-1996: "Magpie Gallery", Kingaroy; Nanango Art Gallery", "Nanango; and "Wondai Art Gallery", Wondai. These Galleries are all in Queensland as Lina lived there during this time.
1996: The "Rosella Restaurant", Bunya Mountains National Park, Queensland; "The Gallery D, The Dome", Montville, Queensland; and The "Westons Gallery" in Toowoomba.
2000-2001:" Penfolds Fine Art Gallery", Bendigo, and "The "Heathcote Winery", Heathcote, Victoria.
2001-2004: Wildlife Art Art Society Australasia Annual Exhibitions.
2004: "Mansfield Hospital Auxiliary Exhibition" Sold all paintings exhibited and received "Highly Commended" For "Parrots of Paradise".
2005-2006: "Mansfield Hospital Auxiliary Exhibition" and "What Eye See" Gallery, Mansfield. Lina will not  opening her own gallery, studio. "The Black Cockatoo at Maindample". Instead her Gallery will be online only as she is presently on Workcover .  Lina is missing the wombats in particular up in THe High Country and hopes to live there again eventually and rebuild her gallery on her block of land that she owns in Maindample.

Lina abhores cruelty to animals and is a sponsor of "The Lort Street Animal Hospital" Melbourne.
